Spatial Light Interference Microscopy (SLIM) and Spatial Light Interference Tomography (SLIT) from the Quantitative Light Imaging (QLI) Labs are recently attracting a lot of attentions. Some related publications (full list on SLIM website):

Automated garment manufacturing system using novel sensing and actuation, by Ryder Winck, in International Symposium on Flexible Automation 2010. The system performs visual-servoing on the repetitive textural patterns. A Photonfocus MV-D1024E-CL CMOS CameraLink camera and an Virtex-5 FPGA is used in its vision system. More details are available in the master thesis of Ryder Winck, titled “Fabric control for feeding into an automated sewing machine“. Yet there is not much description about how the vision algorithm is implemented and how much delay is induced. Thanks to the pointer from Vision Systems Design.
